Sports Physical Therapy Evaluation
Based in Winter Park - Serving the Greater Orlando Area
A Physical Therapy evaluation is the first step in understanding what’s going on with your body and determining the best path forward. At Cross the Line Physical Therapy and Performance, our evaluations are designed for athletes and active adults who want clear answers, not guesswork. Whether you’re dealing with pain, movement limitations, or a nagging issue that hasn’t resolved, our goal is to identify the root cause and help you decide what makes sense next.
Who is a Physical Therapy Evaluation for?
Sports Physical Therapy Evaluations are great for athletes and active adults who are:
Dealing with pain, injury, or performance limitations
Experiencing recurring or unresolved issues
Unsure if Physical Therapy is necessary
Coming for an evaluation does not mean you have to commit to continued Physical Therapy. Our goal is to get you back to performing to the best of your abilities as fast and in as few sessions as possible. Each evaluation concludes with your Physical Therapist laying out a carefully constructed home exercise program with videos, descriptions, sets, reps, and frequency for all exercises so that patients can continue to progress outside of Physical Therapy sessions. Sometimes, follow-up visits aren’t necessary and patients are able to self-manage their own care based on the guidance provided at the end of their evaluation.
Looking to address small problems before they become bigger ones
We always recommend getting an evaluation as soon as you notice something feels “off”. This allows us to discover problem areas to be addressed before they become major issues and usually saves patients from needing many more visits in the long-term.
Not having any issues and want to stay that way
Coming in every few months to discover deficiencies you may not be aware of is a great way to ensure you continue feeling and moving your best
What happens during an evaluation?
During your evaluation, we take the time to fully understand you, not just your symptoms. This typically includes:
A detailed discussion of you history, goals, and activity demands
We won’t rush you or interrupt you mid-sentence. We know that you wouldn’t mention something if it wasn’t important to you that we hear it. Every detail matters when trying to determine the best plan for each patient so we want to fully understand your story before moving on with the evaluation.
A comprehensive assessment of your movement, strength, range of motion, and other variables that may be contributing to your symptoms
Once assessments are complete, your Physical Therapist will explain your results and prognosis to you in a manner that is easy for you to understand. You’ll leave knowing what’s going on and why.
Any time that is left will be used to begin treatments and establish a home exercise program so that you can start feeling progress before you leave the clinic
What happens After the evaluation?
If ongoing care is recommended, we’ll outline a clear plan tailored to your goals. If Physical Therapy isn’t the right fit or we feel that someone else is better equipped to handle your specific situation, we’ll be honest and point you in the right direction. Either way, you’ll leave with better understanding and direction.
Our patients frequently say things like,
“this was by far the most thorough evaluation I’ve ever received”.
